OVERPRESCRIBING AND ABUSE OF ANTIBIOTICS IS CREATING SUPERBACTERIA!

Antibiotics are medications that are used to prevent and treat bacterial infections. Today we are facing very serious problem, we are creating superbacteria that is becoming antibiotic resistant. These bacteria may infect humans and animals, and the infections they are causing are much harder to treat than the one from non-resistant bacteria.

If we continue to use antibiotics without control, treating ourselves without seeing a doctor and treat viruses with them, in near future we will die from the most basic infections. WHO (World Health Organization) published a list that contains 12 bacteria whose strains are considered very high threat, that became resistant to the antibiotics and we need to find medicine as soon as possible.

If we don’t change our habits and continue to abuse antibiotics, scientists are saying that in near future C-Section, organ transplantations, joint surgeries, hip replacement surgery and even chemotherapy will become much more dangerous and deadly cause antibiotics are losing their effect.

Pharmaceutical industry haven’t found new list of antibiotics for a long time so the list from WHO was a reminder for them too, to invest more resources in the fight against the resistance of the bacteria. As time passes we need bigger and bigger doses of antibiotics to treat infection.

The bacteria in the list of WHO are split into three groups.

The first group is with the most dangerous strains:
-Pseudomonas aeruginosa
-Enterobacteriaceae
-Acinetobacter baumannii

Second group is high priority bacteria:
-Enterococcus faecium
-Helicobacter pylori
-Salmonela
-Campylobacter
-Staphylococcus aureus
-Neisseria gonorrhoeae

Third group is medium priority bacteria:
-Shigelle
-Haemophilus influenzae
-Streptococcus pneumoniae

In European Union 25 000 people yearly die because of those super bacteria, almost same number like the car accidents, 35 000.

YOU SHOULDN’T TREAT VIRUSES WITH ANTIBIOTICS! Bacterial infections are the ones who should be treated with them and every bacterial infection is treated with different antibiotic, that’s why it’s important to check what kind of bacteria made the infection at first place. If you do mistake, you wasted precious time, infection will become bigger and the organism more vulnerable. When you try to treat virus with antibiotic you will no have no effect, you will kill the good bacteria in you and become more susceptible to new diseases.
